Tatum is a native of Compton, California who loves reading and making art. When she is not reading and drawing, she is in the pool swimming like a fish. Tatum is the youngest of five sisters. Family means the world to her.

The story behind the story
The Magic Shoes is such a special accomplishment because this book was birthed out of adversity. As a kindergartener, Tatum found herself learning online 1/2 way through the school year because of the Covid pandemic. She struggled over the next two years. Despite her struggles, Tatum persevered. In the second grade, she got support from two teachers at her elementary school who helped to boost her confidence. That's when she wrote The Magic Shoes as a school assignment. She is so proud of her achievement. She is even more proud to share this story with the world.

Book Reading and Signing:
Tatum had a book reading for her story and signed copies of her book on Sunday, February 8, 2026 at That's Novel Book Store at Camp North End in Charlotte. The event was from 1-2 pm. Cara's Cookies provided free cookies for all attendees. That's Novel Book Store is located at 330 Camp Rd Suite B, Charlotte, NC 28206.
